Maybe some of you will remember a couple of summers ago when my godson, and nephew Duncan Harris, a marine... saved a boy from drowning, and went back in to the surf in North Carolina for the other, who passed away. Long story short, he was given the Navy and Marine Corps Medal in Honduras by the Commander of the Marines. Check out what that medal means. It was given to President Kennedy for his service in WWII with his PT boat sinking. So beyond this honor, he was just awarded the Carnagie Medal by the Governor of Illinois this week as well. I'm getting ready to leave for Africa! Tanzania is my final destination. I will be flying from Chicago to Germany, then to Nairobi, Kenya...then driving south with my partner to Arusha, to begin a couple weeks of touring lodges near Mt. Kilimanjaro, and on into the Serengeti, all the way to Lake Victoria. I'm afraid the only wildlife I'll be shooting on my safari will be with my Nikon or my GOPRO! I'll be shooting photography and video for our website, meeting our guides, and touring lodges that we'll be using for our safari clients. We also meet with the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) to talk about partnering with our company, to help stop ivory trade and poaching. This is an introductory business trip for me, as well as a bucket list event in my life. If you want a safari in Africa, or to trek on Kilimanjaro, talk to me! So I won't be attending the Commanders meeting on Sept. 3rd. - I'll be hanging with my cousins out in the Ngorongoro crater, and across the Serengeti. By the way, I was recently given my new Swahili nickname by my partner - Tembo Mwitu (Wild Elephant).

Tonight I did a long update on the website. Ugh. First off, let me say it was a pain in the ass to do because while the website was offline, I decided to investigate and attempt to correct the messaging issues everyone has been having. The update went successfully. A lot of the update fixes are stuff that 99.9% of you don't see or errors none of you have encountered. As for the messaging problems a lot of you are starting to have. I have looked into them. I really really thought that this update would fix it. I disabled all plugins/applications/themes (more on that below) in attempt to fix the problem. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem. I have narrowed it down to the website software itself. Have no fear though! I have been in contact with support about finding and fixing the problem. I'm hoping to get a response by Friday... but it might not be until Monday. I just want everyone to know that I haven't forgotten you, I haven't ignored you. I've done a lot of research and playing around on my test website in attempt to replicate what caused the problems. I can't do it. Even copying this website to my private webserver and running it doesn't replicate it... not totally. It's probably somewhere in the code. It will be ironed out and corrected as soon as possible. Now that I've straightened that out... I want to just apologize that the website was offline as long as it was. If you attempted to access the website and couldn't... that was totally my fault. After the update of the website, I went to update the theme (again hoping it would fix the messaging problems). In doing so, the website discovered that the theme files were corrupted and it literally fubar'd the entire site. It was horrible. After several attempts and reinstalls, I finally got the theme files reinstalled and corruption free. So... in closing... the website is updated successfully, the messaging problems are still there (sorry) but are being addressed actively and the website will hopefully run smoother.

Goblin is one of our respected admins. This sort of language it way out of line. Simple. Speak with the sort of kindness you would expect from us, or get the fuck out of our server, and forums. Before you are banned.

Are you trying to get yourself perm. banned from the server and this forum? Because that's how you achieve that. First of all, having a reasonably high K/D does not mean that a person is hacking. Tenhunter has over 1,600 hrs. in BF3, so one should expect that he plays good and has a decent K/D by now. Second of all, don't come in here disrespecting and cursing one of our admins out.

If your in game chat is as colorful as this, I see how you earned your ban. (likely a temp) We do have rules on our servers, and admins have rules that they have to follow, like proof of a hack. K/D is NOT proof. I would suggest a deep breath and trying your post again. Or, try another server in the future.

For those of you who remember this event last year... my Godson and nephew Duncan Harris dove into the ocean while we were on vacation last summer to try and save two boys who were swept out to sea in a rip current. One drowned, but Duncan saved the first boy (13 years old) and then went back in to look for the other. The boys were on a summer church trip from Cape Girardeau, Missouri. I took pictures of the whole thing, and was able to give some comfort to the families, letting them know the heroic actions of Duncan, who is a U.S. Marine. Apparently, President Obama was also impressed with Duncan's actions, and he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal yesterday while serving in Honduras. It's not often that we get word of such amazing heroics, and I am super proud of Duncan. I thought you all might be inspired as well with these pics. I sent them on to the families, here one year after the tragedy. This medal is worn after the Distinguished Flying Cross, and before the Bronze Star Medal. President John F. Kennedy was awarded this medal for Heroism during WWII in the Pacific. Adolfoh- First of all I want to address the fact that you posted this in the general section instead of using the proper channels. That sir is not acceptable. We are a community and as such we have avenues to address things. You are capable of sending a pm to any of the leaders or commanders instead of airing your grievance publicly. Swizzle has been in the clan for a long time now and we have all in our own way accepted his quirks. He may say things at times that are flamboiyant and aimed to be rude but he's also one of the most personable members we have. In fact he's the recruit officer of SoV. When things get heated stuff happens. I personally took time away from H1 because the group we were with in PV earlier weren't working as a team. All it took was for people to follow a few simple directions and we would have been fine. Talking to that kid while we were in hostile territory to be honest was infuriating because while he distracted members the rest of his group flanked us. Now lastly I have had a talk with swizzle asking him to try to curb these responses but honestly I accept him for who he is as well as our other members. I will not tolerate racism. I will not tolerate deceit or bullying and I will not tolerate someone who decides to try to start drama like a child. I wish you luck in your en devours.

Admin abuse is a kick/ban offense. If the admin warns you to stop arguing with him, or to stop being abusive he is free to kick you, which he did. Then you came back and continued to do the same thing. Which resulted in your temp ban. As Felix said, admins play the game, and do not use their admin power to help them in game, or they would be removed as an admin. We are strict with our admin rules, and I am a Commander in SoV., so you can take my word at that. In the future, it would be prudent that you don't badmouth the admins publicly and accuse them of cheating. They don't, we care about our servers, our integrity, and back our admins 100%. He did not 'kick people who accused him of cheating'... he kicked people who did not listen when he said to stop abusing the admin. He doesn't cheat, and his stats back that up. He's a great player. We don't allow continual arguing with admin. If you continue to repeat this behavior, you will be permanently banned.

I've been swamped busy, and will be most of August and September. Specifically Tanzania to Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Serengeti over to Lake Victoria. Flying in and out of Nairobi, Kenya. Going to visit my relatives, the Wild Elephant. Sorry, though only a photographic safari. No shooting my friends the wildlife. We save them, not shoot them. However, it appears that you won't gain XP doing so. On the other side of that, if you do buy Premium or that particular expansion, your XP is banked so you would then get it. A great way to try it before you buy it.

I enjoyed playing Arma with some SoV members, and am excited about learning the game more. At first I didn't necessarily like it, when I played by myself, and tried to learn it. But with others help, it was much easier, and I like the idea that you can really work together as a squad in the 'real world'. I also was struck by how a bunch of basic noobs could look like idiots while they tried to pack the right stuff and think ahead. I had so much crap in my backpack that I could hardly walk. I can see how as you play, you get more and more experience about how to come prepared and really be a team member. It seems to me that some people like Battlefield because that's all pretty much done for you from the get go. This one requires some thought, and really works best if you communicate with others. I'm looking forward to playing more.

I checked the difference in terms of pricing for dedicated servers. It's not unreasonable, especially if it eliminates any lag issues. I also contacted NFO to check and see how long the transfer process would take. Apparently it should be no longer than 20-30 min. I am going to be setting that up this afternoon.

I just wanted to take a minute and thank you all for the kind words and feedback about the new site. It has been really fun to build this up for you all to enjoy and work out the bugs the best I can to make things more streamlined and easier to use... as well as fixing my own mistake (like button for example).... so thank you all!
